Floribama Shore star Kirk Medas has died at the age of 33.
The reality TV star passed away on Friday after spending two weeks at a hospital in the Miami area, according to TMZ.
He died from liver failure caused by necrotizing pancreatitis.
Necrotizing pancreatitis is a severe form of acute pancreatitis where tissue within the pancreas dies. It can be life-threatening, particularly if the dead tissue becomes infected, according to Cedars Sinai.
Treatment typically involves supportive care, and in some cases, surgery to remove the dead tissue if it’s infected or causing complications.
The star had been in the intensive care unit of the Florida hospital where he also needed a machine to breathe, and then was in a coma.
