Former Disney child star Raquel Lee Bolleau sues company over alleged rape and claims studio did nothing

Former child star Raquel Lee Bolleau is suing The Walt Disney Company over allegations that she was repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted by a now-former Disney employee when she was a teenager.

The Daily Mail has obtained a legal complaint which shows the now 39-year-old actress – who also starred alongside Amanda Bynes in Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show – filed a civil negligence lawsuit against the media giant in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, August 21.

In the complaint, the actress alleges that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by an unnamed, middle-aged male Disney employee while filming 2001 Disney Channel movie The Poof Point when she was 14-years-old.

Regarding the legal action, Bolleau’s attorneys Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim released a statement to The Daily Mail on Monday which read: ‘Over the last decade, countless child actors have come forward to bravely share their experiences of abuse by adults in entertainment. 

‘As former government prosecutors, our message to Disney and the entertainment industry at large is simple: This conduct is inexcusable, and those involved—directly or indirectly—must be held accountable. We applaud Ms. Bolleau’s courage and look forward to holding Disney accountable for the serious pain it has caused.’

Daily Mail has also reached out to representatives for The Walt Disney Company for comment and has yet to hear back. 

The actress also alleges that the employee had supplied her with alcohol and assaulted her multiple times while the cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City in addition to during a flight back to California according to the legal document.

Bolleau also alleges that Disney had failed to protect her as she claimed that there were signs that something was wrong.

According to the complaint, the actress claims that she was instructed to ‘bond’ and spend time with the unnamed employee as she also alleges that production had separated her from her guardian and failed to provide appropriate supervision.

The actress went on to claim that the employee would ‘torment’ her while on set including whispering comments like ‘last night was so good’ which she alleges was in plain view of other adults as she claimed ‘no one at Disney intervened.’ 

In the complaint, Bolleau also claimed that adults working on the production had noticed dramatic changes in her behavior and performance once the alleged abuse had began including that she appeared sick and intoxicated.

Bolleau claimed that this shift was ‘a stark difference from the dedicated, studious and diligent child actress who had joined the movie.’

She went on to claim in the complaint that Disney had not only failed to investigate but had also blamed her for her increasingly poor performance, and even described her as ‘out of control’ while cancelling another planned role.

Through the lawsuit, Bolleau is now seeking damages for alleged economic losses and emotional distress, as well as punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, and other costs. The complaint does not specify the total amount of damages the actress is seeking. 

After filming The Poof Point, Bolleau had a recurring voiceover role as character Nubia Gross on highly-popular Disney animated series The Proud Family which originally aired from 2001 to 2005.

She later returned for the Disney+ revival of the animated series titled The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder which streamed from 2022 to 2026.

Bolleau also has had roles in front of the camera as she starred on Kevin Hart series Real Husbands of Hollywood from 2013 to 2016 and Snoop Dogg led 2017 comedy Grow House. 

The former child actress married Edouard Bolleau in 2016 as they share three children together.
