The New York Giants have been dealt another huge blow, with star pass rusher Brian Burns feared to have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday’s win over Tennessee.
Burns suited up at MetLife Stadium despite battling an ankle injury sustained just six days earlier on Monday Night Football, which had kept him out of practice all week.
His afternoon was cut short in the fourth quarter when he went down with a non-contact injury, requiring immediate assistance from medical staff.
Shortly after the game, head coach John Harbaugh informed reporters that Burns would be undergoing an MRI scan to determine the extent of his injury.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday morning, the Giants believe that Burns has suffered a season-ending torn ACL.
The injury comes at the worst time for Harbaugh and the Giants, who just lost starting quarterback Jaxson Dart for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

The signal caller went under the knife on Friday to repair a torn meniscus and MCL in his left knee, which he suffered in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Losing Burns leaves the Giants without their defensive focal point and locker room leader just three weeks into the new campaign.
The 28-year-old edge rusher posted a career-high 16.5 sacks last year – finishing second in the NFL only to Myles Garrett.
His setback will now force a young pass-rushing corps, featuring Abdul Carter alongside Kayvon Thibodeaux and Arvell Reese, to shoulder the defensive burden.
While the Giants managed to grind out an ugly, rain-soaked victory over Tennessee to move to 2-1 on the season, the mounting injuries will be a cause for concern.

But the miscommunication with Winston in charge was made clear with an early play against the Titans, in the shadow of his own end zone.
On a 2nd and 10 play in the first quarter, Winston was supposed to deliver a simple handoff to running back Cam Skattebo.
Instead, Winston stood right in Skattebo’s path and knocked the running back to the ground for a three-yard loss.
Winston turned to apologize to the running back and exchanged some words before going back into the huddle.
