Iconic Perth ‘restaurant in the sky’ announces closure after 20 years – leaving customers distraught: ‘So sad’

A popular fine dining ‘restaurant in the sky’ has announced its shock closure after more than 20 years – leaving customers devastated.

C Restaurant, best known for its revolving 360-degree views of Perth’s CBD, will serve its final dishes on January 31, 2027.

The iconic venue, which is Western Australia’s only revolving restaurant, has served more than two million diners on the 33rd floor of St Martins Tower.

‘After more than two decades, and nearly half a century of dining in the sky at this address, we share the news that C Restaurant will take its final turn… as St Martins Tower is redeveloped,’ the owners confirmed.

‘It has been the greatest privilege to welcome more than two million guests through our doors, to be part of your proposals and anniversaries, your milestone birthdays, first dates and quiet celebrations, with the whole of Perth turning slowly below.

‘To everyone who has dined with us, celebrated with us, and made this revolving room feel like home – thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.’

With the award-winning restaurant’s ‘final turn’ still months away, customers can book a table for high tea, a long lunch or a nice dinner.

‘Let’s celebrate an extraordinary chapter together, the only way we know how, with the view, a glass raised, and a room full of the people who made C what it is,’ the owners added.

The surprising announcement has come as a huge shock to loyal customers, with many revealing the venue has been their go-to spot for special celebrations – including proposals, birthdays and anniversaries.

‘SO sad – end of an era! So many of our family dining experiences and special occasions over a lifetime,’ one shared.

‘No this is so sad to hear but like everything I guess, all good things must eventually come to an end. Thank you for all the beautiful dining experiences over the years, I have enjoyed so many unforgettable memories up there,’ another said.

‘Amazing people, amazing food, the view was only ever the sideshow. Thank you for being my family’s favourite restaurant. We are devastated for you and all of Perth as we lose such an important iconic venue,’ one revealed.

‘I’m so sad. My hubby and I got engaged here. We’ll miss C – such amazing food and always makes our annual anniversary dinners special for us. We’ll have to come for dinner soon. Thank you for the memories,’ another added.

‘Just not right! Anniversary and birthday dinners won’t be the same… after 36 years of dining here, we are so sad to see you go,’ one said.

How will Perth¿s dining scene change without its beloved revolving restaurant?

‘After he was diagnosed with cancer in September 2020, we went for one last anniversary lunch in October 2020. Then six months later we went again to celebrate a cancer milestone.

‘Sadly that was his last time with me at C as he passed four months later. My daughter, grandson and I have been a few times since. So sad this is closing so many happy memories. We’ll definitely have to come back before you close.’
