I’m a podiatrist and these are the six things I always buy from Chemist Warehouse – including a $2 blister patch for pain relief in 10 seconds

A podiatrist has revealed the top six items she always buys from Chemist Warehouse – including the $5 shoe gel designed to keep feet comfortable all day and the $2 patch that provides blister pain relief in just 10 seconds.
Dr Kate Edwards has been practising for 17 years, helping everyday Aussies, office workers and athletes with a wide range of foot-related concerns.
To help people get back on their feet faster, the footwear consultant and biomechanics specialist has shared a list of her all-time favourite foot care products.
For smoother, softer feet, she recommended Manicare PediPRO Callus File ($13.99).
‘So it has a really strong rough abrasion which helps you file the skin away, but also it’s easy to clean,’ she said in her video.
The owner of City Feet Clinic said Comfy Feet Gel Insoles ($4.99) work wonders for all-day comfort – perfect for wearing with high heels or boots.
‘These little gel insoles are really fantastic for work shoes, so leather work shoes, RM Williams, really hard-soled shoes,’ she explained.
‘They’re excellent to reduce friction and pain.’

If you’re prone to blisters, Dr Edwards recommended Compeed Blister Plasters ($9.99 for a pack of five, or $1.99 each), which claims to provide instant pain relief in 10 seconds.
‘They’re fantastic,’ the founder of KooE Skincare said.
‘It’s fantastic for repairing damaged tissue. They have an ingredient called hydrocolloid (for healing blisters).
‘They’re like a second skin, you put them on, you leave them on until they fall off.’
The Synxpedi Ingrown Toenail File ($15.49) was next on her must-buy list, as the tool is designed to relieve pressure caused by ingrown toenails.
‘This ingrown toenail file has a little file on it so if you have any spikes, you’re not going to really damage yourself by cutting yourself, but you can smooth away and file that edge away,’ she said.
‘If you are infected, be really careful though because you will get more infections.’
‘So keep them clean, spray them with alcohol when you’re about to use them.’
If you do suffer a skin infection, Dr Edwards recommended Betadine Antiseptic Ointment Cream ($14.99). She always keeps a bottle of Isocol Multipurpose Spray ($5.99) at home to disinfect any footcare tools before using them

If you do suffer a skin infection, Dr Edwards recommended Betadine Antiseptic Ointment Cream ($14.99).
‘My favourite type of antiseptic that I use is Betadine ointment,’ she said.
‘It’s sticky and it holds against the wound and it doesn’t slip around like the liquid does, and that works perfectly under the dressing.’
Finally, she always keeps a bottle of Isocol Multipurpose Spray ($5.99) at home to disinfect any foot care tools before using them.
‘Other aspects for keeping those instruments clean if you’ve got any foot callousing, callous paddle and that little file for ingrown toenails – if you use this rubbing alcohol, use this,’ she said.
‘I use it at home all the time to keep the instruments that I use really clean.’
