Iran-US war latest: Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan sign Nato-style defence pact – but Tehran issues warning
Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have signed a Nato-style defence pact, but Iran has issued a stern warning.
The deal stipulates that an armed attack on either of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against them all.
It comes as the Iran-backed Houthi rebels have stepped up attacks on Saudi-linked targets.
But Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that Saudi Arabia’s defence agreement will not guarantee the kingdom’s security.
“Saudi rulers must know that just as America’s bases could not bring them security, clinging to America’s lackeys will not bring them security either,” Mahmoud Nabavian, a radical member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump hit out at “leakers” as he condemned “treasonous” reports that the US has almost depleted its stock of precision long-range missiles in its war with Iran.
The president claimed the US still has “massive amounts” of the expensive munitions, adding that “large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the US as needed”.
