Is Michael Schumacher’s son making an F1 COMEBACK? Mick ‘holds secret talks’ with a team to return next year

The Schumacher name could soon make a daredevil return to the Formula One grid.

That’s the talk over in Germany, where a report claims Michael Schumacher’s son Mick has held covert talks with a team about joining next season.

Mick, 26, already has two years of regular F1 experience under his belt from a sticky stint with Haas in 2021 and 2022.

The German was given the boot after scoring 12 points in 41 races and now races for Alpine in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

However, he was at the Miami Grand Prix over the weekend, and German newspaper Bild claims he met bigwigs at Cadillac, who will become the 11th team in the paddock next season.

Cadillac unveiled their Formula One branding in a Saturday night bash at Queen’s, a luxury venue on Miami Beach.

Terry Crews hosted the evening and there was even a performance from Janelle Monae, with the all-American team eager to make an impression.

Fans chanted ‘get Checo’ at the event, putting pressure on the team to sign Sergio Perez, who Red Bull released last year.

Schumacher is said to be an attractive option because of his blend of youth and experience, as well as his globally renowned name, a key to cracking the Stateside market.

It comes after a seeming split from his girlfriend Laila Hasanovich, with Schumacher spotted on celebrity dating app Raya.

Alongside his experienced with Hass, he was also Mercedes and McLaren’s reserve driver in 2023 and 2024.

His father, Michael, a seven-time world champion, has not been seen in public since his skiing accident on a family holiday in Meribel, France, in 2013.

Schumacher collided head-first with a rock and while his helmet absorbed much of the impact, the severity of the accident cracked the hard shell and fractured Schumacher’s skull, leading to a traumatic brain injury.

He was placed in a coma, underwent two brain surgeries, and was only deemed safe to move in June 2014.

In March, Felix Gorner, a reporter for German broadcaster RTL, revealed that Schumacher ‘can no longer communicate verbally’.

‘The situation is very sad,’ said Gorner. ‘He needs constant care and is completely dependent on his caregivers. And he can no longer express himself verbally. Currently, there’s a maximum of 20 people who can approach Michael.’
