Kimberly Guilfoyle lost her gilded title of US ambassador to Greece his week after a series of dogged reports on her extravagant lifestyle and spending habits by the Daily Mail’s Elina Shirazi.
The unraveling began last week after Shirazi exclusively reported that the State Department had opened a formal investigation into the former Fox News star amid scrutiny of her allegedly extraordinary demands for travel, dining, money and other perks.
Text messages leaked by a pro-Trump donor showed the Greek ambassador seeking a $100,000 payment for a credit card bill before she even began her diplomatic role. In a statement posted to X, Guilfoyle insisted the accusations against her are ‘false, and vowed to ‘vigorously defend’ her name and reputation.
The State Department probe followed a series of reports over the last year, including one that featured Guilfoyle’s profanity-filled audio of boasts about swanky trips to Switzerland and Paris.
As the revelations kept coming, anger inside the White House festered to a point of no return.
By Tuesday, the president’s patience – and Guilfoyle’s time in Athens – had run out.
Questions over her conduct are unlikely to let up any time soon, especially if the Democrats win back the US House with all its investigatory powers next month as expected.
