Lamar Jackson receives brutal blow as NFL insider reveals Ravens QB could be sidelined ‘multiple games’ with worrying ankle injury

Lamar Jackson has received a brutal injury blow and could miss ‘multiple games’ after hurting his ankle in Sunday’s win over the Tennessee Titans.

Jackson did not return to the field for the second half as it soon emerged he had been hurt after getting tangled up on a sack just before the interval.

He was replaced by Tyler Huntley, who got the Ravens over the line to beat the winless Titans, before being seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Jackson has a sprained ankle and has just an ‘outside chance’ to play this weekend on Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons.

And it is also possible Jackson could ‘end up missing multiple games’, with all eyes now on his rehabilitation as he looks to get back to full fitness as soon as possible, despite the injury not being ‘considered long-term or surgical’.

After Sunday’s primetime trip to Atlanta, they head to Cleveland on October 18 to take on the Browns before another AFC North battle at home to the Cincinnati Bengals on October 25.

Head coach Jesse Minter gave nothing away regarding Jackson’s status for Sunday’s game when he spoke at a press conference on Monday.

‘I don’t know the chances yet,’ Minter said. ‘We’re still gathering a lot of the information, imaging, things like that. Just dealing with a little bit of an ankle. We’ll kind of see where that shakes out.

‘Full trust and confidence in him that when it’s ready to roll, that we’ll roll, and go from there.’

‘I really don’t think it’s going to be crazy long term,’ Minter added. ‘But, we’ll see what happens.’

Jackson had looked impressive before his exit, completing 15-of-20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

It came after he was limited in practice earlier in the week due to a back injury, which Minter said was down to him ‘dealing with something small’ as he eased fears before the Titans game.

Jackson’s health has caused mystery before, with a disconnect between initial injury reports and when he has actually returned.

He missed the final four games of the 2021 season after a low ankle sprain suffered in Week 14 where the Ravens initially hoped he would return the following week.

The next season, he suffered a left knee PCL sprain called ‘week-to-week’ by then-coach John Harbaugh but missed the final five regular-season games and Wild Card round in the playoffs.

During that 2022 injury situation, Jackson admitted he only ever plays if he is 100 percent healthy claiming it would be ‘selfish’ to do otherwise.

‘Let’s get real. I rather have a 100% PCL than go out there and play horrible forcing myself to put my guys in a bad situation now that’s selfish to me,’ Jackson said.
