Liverpool have NOT yet reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz despite reports claiming British record £126m fee had been agreed as talks continue

Liverpool remain in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz but have yet to reach agreement on a potential British record transfer fee.

Liverpool have tabled a number of offers, the third of which was £100million plus a further £14m in add ons.

This was not formally rejected by Leverkusen, but talks have continued to find a resolution as they seek greater bonus payments beyond a guaranteed £100m for the 22-year old.

Talks were continuing as of Tuesday over the structure of a deal and agreement remained incomplete going into the evening, despite reports circulating online that a deal had been done.

Liverpool have made it clear they did not wish to pay the £126million asking price but are continuing to work with Leverkusen to find a middle ground.

Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen and plan to add Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth as they look to wrap up Wirtz.

Germany international Wirtz is regarded as one of the best playmakers in European football and has already spoken in detail with manager Arne Slot over how he will fit into the Dutchman’s plans.

Wirtz has 31 caps for Germany and turned down proposed moves to Bayern Munich and Manchester City this summer.
