The pic is based on Virginia Feito’s novel of the same name, the author adapting her tome. Bleecker Street plans to release the film nationwide theatrically in 2026, with cameras rolling this week in Ireland.
Set in Victorian England, Victorian Psycho sees an eccentric governess arrive at a remote gothic manor, where strange happenings stir suspicion that she’s not what she seems.
Victorian Psycho is produced by Dan Kagan (Longlegs) under his Traffic banner as well as Sebastien Raybaud (Greenland: Migration) for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content. EPs include Anonymous Content’s Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros, Feito, and Bleecker Street’s Kent Sanderson and Miranda King. The deal was negotiated by King and UTA Independent Film Group, CAA Media Finance, and Anton on behalf of the filmmakers. Anton is fully financing the film and is representing international rights.
“We are proud to partner with this incredible creative team on Victorian Psycho. Zach’s vision is thrilling, and we know every frame will be shocking, unique, and for lack of a better word, cutting” said Kent Sanderson, CEO at Bleecker Street. “Backing this film continues Bleecker’s mandate of supporting exciting voices and bringing entertaining, impactful films from across all genres to theaters.”
Bleecker Street recently picked up horror film Bone Lake, set to release October 3; Oscar-winner Guy Nattiv’s Harmonia starring Bella Ramsey, Odessa Young, Carrie Coon and Lily James, which is in production; and The Third Parent starring Rob Lowe, Crispin Glover and Roselyn Sanchez, which is in post.
This weekend they’re opening David Mackenzie’s thriller Relay starring Riz Ahmed, Lily James, and Sam Worthington with Rob Reiner’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues hitting theaters on Sept. 12. Max Walker-Silverman’s Sundance title Rebuilding starring Josh O’Connor, Lily Latorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis, and Amy Madigan is set for release on Nov. 14.
