Commuters in Sydney are battling severe rail disruption after urgent track repairs stopped several key train lines.
The issue caused major delays on Friday morning, impacting the T2 Leppington and Inner West line, T3 Liverpool and Inner West line, and T8 Airport and South line.
It is understood a signal issue at St James paused the critical services, with crews rushing to the scene.
Passengers have been urged to allow ‘plenty of extra travel time’.
‘Frequent trains are operating, some with changed stops and you may experience larger than normal service gaps,’ Sydney Trains advice said.
‘Check transport apps for service updates, or message for travel help.’
Some Sydneysiders jumped on social media to share their frustration over the delays.
‘Day 38473018 of Sydney trains being completely useless again,’ one user said.

Another quipped: ‘I think there needs to be a new timezone in Sydney – STST – Sydney Trains standard time.’
Additional bus replacements were introduced for trains between Central and the airport, and between Macarthur and Campbelltown.
It is the second time in one week that Sydney train passengers have faced delays during peak commuter hours.
There were major disruptions on Monday when a man died after being hit by a train at Flemington Station about 5.30am.
The worst affected routes were the Blue Mountains line and the T1 Western Line, with residual impact on the T3 and also the T2 lines.
Normal service resumed within a few hours.
More to come.
