Maria Bartiromo breaks silence after she was fired from Fox News for ‘leaking info to Trump’
Maria Bartiromo broke her silence days after departing Fox News, where she was reportedly fired for sharing internal guidance with the Trump administration, a claim her attorney has denied.
In a cryptic Thursday post on X, the longtime Fox Business anchor and vocal advocate of President Donald Trump shared a photo of a rainbow appearing through storm clouds.
“Thank you to all friends & followers for your amazing words I am so grateful for the outpouring of love,” Bartiromo wrote. “I love you all. here’s a great shot of the [rainbow] breaking through, I snapped the other day.”
“More to come,” she added.
It was her first social media post since September 3, when Fox News abruptly announced that Bartiromo would be leaving the network effective immediately. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” the company said in a brief statement.
Hours later, Status reported that Bartiromo was fired for passing internal company information to the Trump administration.
Following a July speech by Trump on election interference, Fox Business executives ordered on-air talent to steer clear of the president’s unsubstantiated claims. Bartiromo leaked that company directive to the White House, violating the terms of her employment agreement, according to the outlet.
The New York Times published a similar account of what led to her departure, reporting that the host shared the company guidance with presidential adviser Peter Navarro, and that the White House later complained to Fox News.
On September 4, Bryan Freedman, an attorney representing Bartiromo, disputed claims about her being dismissed as inaccurate and threatened legal action.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman told The Independent.
“Make no mistake,” he added, “we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”
Bartiromo, who previously worked at CNN and CNBC, joined Fox Business in 2013.
She became an early advocate for President Donald Trump during his first term, and later used her show to amplify his baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen. The network was later sued by Dominion Voting Systems for defamation, leading to a $787 million settlement.
The president mourned Bartiromo’s departure from the network in a September 3 Truth Social message, describing Bartiromo as “a true warrior.”
