Mom of missing girl Alisa shares heartbreak after discovering what she told 3 ‘pedophiles’ before she vanished

The mother of a missing girl who ran away to meet an alleged pedophile has shared her devastation after discovering what her daughter told them before she vanished.

Alisa Petrov, 15, has been missing since April 21 when she disappeared without a trace after being dropped off at school in Utah.

Hours later, her frantic parents Olga and Nikolai Petrov discovered their daughter had a terrifying double life when her secret iPad was found hidden in her dresser.

The teenager dug the long-forgotten device out of a dusty old box and was chatting to three accused pedophiles, all now behind bars.

Olga told the Daily Mail that Alisa gave no indication that anything was wrong in her home life and ‘never said anything that she wasn’t happy with us’.

‘We didn’t do anything wrong to her that would give her an idea that she may need to run away,’ she said.

But messages on Discord and Snapchat between Alisa and Samuel Teancum Mitchell, 41, revealed deep animosity she apparently felt for her parents.

‘Within their chat, the juvenile mentions suicide and that she hates her parents,’ police wrote in a probable cause affidavit for Mitchell’s arrest.

‘Mitchell advised he had met a girl online who was mad at her parents and had started cutting herself.’

Olga can’t understand why she told him she ‘hates her parents’.

Alisa also requested multiple times for Mitchell to ‘kidnap her’ and eight days before she ran away sent him locations of where she would be, the affidavit alleged.

‘Mitchell described that the juvenile was excited about running away and asked if she could run away with him. Mitchell advised that he thought it was a fantasy thing, and said ‘oh yeah, it’d be kind of fun’,’ police alleged.

The pair allegedly tried to arrange a meeting, Alisa asking: ‘like r we [for real] meeting?? like please confirm please before tonight confirm if we r meeting pls bring condoms’.

Mitchell replied saying he was sick and couldn’t meet and Alisa instead ran away to meet another of the three men in Las Vegas.

Olga said she was shocked to read messages where her daughter talked about suicide and self-harm, as she never showed any signs.

I really don’t have a reason for her being depressed. She had most of the stuff she ever wanted,’ she said.

‘Alisa didn’t do any chores at home, we had multiple vacations throughout the year, she had good branded clothing.

‘She kept it to herself, but I mean from our perspective we believe we did everything we could as parents at that fragile age.’

Olga said the only point of friction was that Alisa wanted unrestricted freedom online without her parents snooping on her phone.

Alisa, who told Mitchell she wanted to be a vlogger, was hungry for fame on TikTok and wanted to attract a following using provocative dances, her mother said.

‘She wanted to really become very popular online on TikTok but by pictures or videos that were not appropriate for her age,’ Olga said.

‘Of course they would give her more views, but for the wrong reason.’

Olga said she and her husband, Nikolai, were vigilant in protecting their daughter and educated her about the dangers of talking to strangers online.

‘We regularly check her phone and there was nothing suspicious. Everything seemed to be normal, just classmates, neighbors,’ she said.

‘We never thought she could be talking to strangers in this way… but she was sneaky and we didn’t know. I wish we figured this out sooner and could help her.’

The affidavit for Mitchell’s arrest recalled how he ‘advised the girl had sent him pictures of her legs being bloody and her making hearts and stuff on them’.

Olga said the blood wasn’t from Alisa harming herself, but from a small scrape on her leg she picked at to get enough blood for a viral TikTok trend.

‘It looks like it’s like a mess, like massive bleeding… she said those pictures are really cool, very popular, and stuff like that,’ she explained.

The affidavit detailed shocking sexual conversations between Alisa and Mitchell, including the teen asking him ‘would u wrap me up in a towel like a burrito’.

‘Then I’ll eat you like a taco,’ Mitchell allegedly replied, with the conversation taking a dark turn after that.

Police alleged they also discussed ‘couples twister’ and ‘sex monopoly’ games.

Mitchell claimed Alisa used different aliases and never told him her real name, and that they never shared inappropriate images.

Police found no child porn of Alisa on his phone, but ‘based upon how the chat reads it appears that messages have been deleted’.

‘Mitchell made comments such as ‘aww so pretty baby girl’. The juvenile wrote to Mitchell ‘mmmm baby I sent u a cute picture on snap mmm’,’ police alleged.

Police also allegedly found disturbing conversations with two other girls, one confirmed to be 15 and another who appeared to be about 12, and nude photos and videos of both of them.

Mitchell was arrested late on Wednesday night and thrown in the Salt Lake County Jail charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

The accused pedophile comes from a very large Mormon family originally from North Carolina, and moved to Utah as a child along with his 11 brothers and sisters.

One of his brothers, Abe Mitchell, took his own life on February 24 last year and Mitchell started a fundraiser that collected $8,000 for his funeral costs.

After Mitchell turned down seeing Alisa due to being unwell, he told police she ‘mentioned that she met an FBI agent in Florida and had an interest in that guy’, the affidavit alleged.

That man is believed to be Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, a tech sales executive, not an FBI agent, who allegedly spent months grooming Alisa for sex.

Just two days before she disappeared, Alisa messaged Mitchell at 12.34am ‘IM RUNNING AWAY, please don’t contact me’.

This was allegedly because Alisa had switched her plan to meeting Menard when he was on a business trip to Las Vegas, before flying to Los Angeles and then his home in Miami.

Police detailed in affidavits the disturbing messages between Alisa and Menard dating back to January 17.

‘[Menard] over the course of several months, corresponded with [the teen] for the purpose of soliciting sex, sodomy, and child sex abuse material from the minor,’ the affidavit continued.

‘[He] discussed in graphic detail his intent to sexually abuse the child. [He] encouraged and engaged with [the teen] all from the state of Florida, where all his substantial ties to the community and resources are.’

Menard was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and three counts of criminal solicitation on May 20, and surrendered to police on Wednesday night.

Another man Alisa was allegedly talking to, William Taylor Glines, 37, from Texas City, Texas, was arrested on May 8 and remains in custody.

Glines was charged with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted aggravated exploitation of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and criminal solicitation.

He was also charged by police in Texas with possessing more than 50 child sexual abuse images or videos. He is yet to enter a plea.

The probable cause affidavit detailed disturbing conversations between Glines and Alisa, including how he allegedly convinced he to send nude photos and videos.

On April 21, Alisa was dropped off at her school, Canyon Grove Academy, in American Fork, about 32 miles south of Salt Lake City.

But instead of going to class, she bought supplies at a nearby gas station and convinced a man there to drive her to the local train station.

Alisa got off the train in Provo, about 14 miles south of American Fork, and asked multiple people there to help her get a bus ticket to Las Vegas.

However, because Alisa never met any of the men, police are no closer to finding her as no one knows where she went or how much danger she is in.

Olga said her daughter had about $1,000 saved from pocket money and birthday gifts that she didn’t spend after she turned 15 on April 16, just five days before running away.

‘Somebody else is either helping her and we don’t know who or where… I’m not suspecting the worst,’ she said.

‘That means she’s with somebody else and we don’t know if it’s a good person or a bad person.’

Alisa was very trusting of people and liked to strike up conversations with others in the park while hiking or on family holidays.

‘She was always trying to meet people to talk to people, like I mean she was just trusting, and we cautioned her about it all the time to at least to be careful,’ her mother said.

‘That’s just how she is… and they took advantage of her.’

They set up a website with a desperate appeal to the teen, insisting she wouldn’t be in trouble if she returned.

‘Alisa, if you can see this, please know that we love you, we will always love you. We miss you. All of your friends and our friends are very worried too,’ her parents wrote.

Police have classified the teen as an endangered runaway.

She is described as standing about 5-foot-3 and weighing about 122 pounds.

Surveillance footage from the gas station showed her wearing a white shirt with darker lettering on the front.
