Moment shark swims through streets of flooded New Jersey suburb after monster nor’easter
A New Jersey resident spotted an unusual guest outside his house during the weekend’s horrific nor’easter floods on the East Coast.
Drew Procaccino, a Surf City resident, found a small ‘harmless’ shark swimming in his driveway on Saturday.
The shark was swiftly gliding in the muddy floodwater when Procaccino took out his camera to capture the astonishing moment.
‘Is that a little shark?’ a woman questioned in the clip as she saw a dorsal fin dawdling aimlessly through the rainwater.
The woman noticed the sea animal coming towards her and said: ‘Oh my God, he’s coming this way.’
Dr Greg Skomal, a white shark expert with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, told ABC News that the sea animal spotted in the video was a dogfish shark.
These baby sharks are common to areas close to the western Atlantic Ocean.
They are harmless because they do not have sharp teeth, the doctor told the outlet.

The shark eventually swam up to the Barnegat Bay along the coast of Ocean County, Procaccino told Storyful.
He said that the shark was spotted around his house at noon and then it briefly disappeared in the driveway.
It was later seen heading west towards the bay.
‘At first we thought it was just a fish, which would have been cool, but a baby shark was even better,’ Procaccino said.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a notice that no flights will depart from Newark Liberty International Airport because of strong winds on Sunday.
CNN reported that a person was killed and four people, including children, were injured as strong winds demolished trees in the area.
Customers across the Northeast were out of power and the storm continues to disrupt air travel.
New Jersey Gov Mikie Sherrill declared a state of emergency across eight counties including Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Salem.
‘This nor’easter is expected to bring damaging winds, heavy rain, significant coastal flooding, and resulting beach erosion, with these eight counties facing the greatest risk,’ Sherrill said in a statement.
‘I urge all New Jerseyans to take this storm seriously.’
