‘Our retribution’: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth holds first press conference after Trump’s strikes on Iran

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth championed President Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran in a press conference Monday morning, saying the death of the Iranian Supreme Leader will end the four-decade-long conflict that has killed American troops.
“We didn’t start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it,” Hegseth told reporters.
The press conference comes days after Trump ordered deadly strikes on Iran that led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The strikes, which began early Saturday morning, were conducted under the name “Operation Epic Fury,” Hegseth said.
