Two years after the coordinated Hamas attacks on Israel, which killed 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages, a four-part scripted series depicts the tragedy for global audiences.
Paramount+ has acquired worldwide rights to Red Alerta drama series featuring real stories of those impacted by the country’s largest and deadliest terrorist attack, all episodes premiering globally on the streamer and on Keshet 12 in Israel on Oct. 7, two years after the attacks on Israel.
Paramount Chairman and CEO David Ellison said the series “highlights Paramount’s continued commitment to storytelling through artistic excellence and accuracy. This critical series cinematically captures the horrific terrorism that stunned the world on October 7 with harrowing precision and inspires with these true-life stories of heroism and heartbreak. We thank Avi, Keshet and Lawrence for trusting us with their vision.”
Created, written and directed by Lior Chefetz, Red Alert producers include Keshet Media Group, Lawrence Bender with Green Productions and the Israel Entertainment Fund.
The premiere comes after Paramount condemned a pledge to boycott Israeli film institutions, responding to the Film Workers for Palestine’s (FWP) open letter in a statement.
‘Red Alert’
“The global entertainment industry should be encouraging artists to tell their stories and share their ideas with audiences throughout the world. We need more engagement and communication — not less,” said a Paramount spokesperson in part.
Despite calling out FWP for “silencing individual creative artists based on their nationality,” the organization clarified that the letter, which has surpassed 1,200 industry signatures, is aimed at “complicit Israeli film institutions and companies, given their pervasive involvement in whitewashing or justifying Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its apartheid regime against all Palestinians.”
