The head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Tanaka Akihiko, congratulated the Egyptians on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, stressing that the museum is a great treasure for humanity, saying " We are grateful to the Egyptian people for their great efforts in implementing this museum, which is a tremendous achievement for the entire human community… and I have full confidence in the ability of the Egyptians to manage the museum efficiently.”
In an exclusive interview with the “Extra News” channel, Tanaka expressed his great happiness at being among the invitees to the museum’s opening ceremony, stressing that Egypt plays a pivotal role in international relations in many fields, noting that civilization Ancient Egyptian is one of the greatest civilizations in world history.
He added, “The Grand Egyptian Museum will attract tourists from various countries of the world, and we at JICA are proud of our long relationship with Egypt, which includes many fields, most notably education.” He stressed his happiness to see the restored and restored artifacts now displayed in the museum, explaining that JICA was keen to ensure healthy and sustainable financing for the project, in addition to continued technical cooperation in the areas of museum management and preservation of artifacts.
Tanaka pointed out the project to reassemble the second Nile boat of King Khufu, which represents a major challenge due to the large number of pieces that need to be restored and assembled… adding, “This project is not complete.” Yet, but it is ongoing, and I believe that many of the Japanese experts who have joined it consider it a very important project.”
He pointed out that the Antiquities Restoration Center will become a major center for research and studies in the Middle East, as experts from all over the world will visit to study and renovate antiquities, stressing that cooperation between the Japanese and Egyptian peoples enhances the building of cultural bridges between the two countries, pointing out that JICA sends Japanese experts to Egypt, and trains Egyptian experts. in Japan for the use of modern technology in the field of preserving cultural heritage.
With regard to the role that Egypt plays in achieving stability in the region, he said: “The whole world is grateful to Egypt for its great efforts in bringing peace to Gaza and the Middle East, and Egypt is also playing a global cultural role with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.”
