Princess Beatrice’s husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi makes rare comment about the ‘luxury’ of ‘spending time with his family’

Princess Beatrice’s husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi has offered a rare insight into his family life.

Edo, who wed the daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson in 2020, opened up about his private life during a Q&A session with The Gentleman’s Journal on Wednesday.

The conversation, held at a Long Summer Lunch Event at London’s Blenheim Palace, saw the father-of-three and property developer asked about the ‘people and places that matter to him’.

After revealing that the finest restaurant he had visited was in the Amalfi Coast, his preferred hotel was ‘Kisawa Sanctuary, Mozambique’ and the city he will never become tired of visiting is London, Edo, 42, discussed the ‘luxury’ of ‘spending time with his family’.

When asked to describe what his ‘perfect holiday’ looked like, Edo responded: ‘Getting off the beaten track, disconnecting from emails and news, and spending time with my family.’

He then went on to describe his ‘biggest luxury’ as ‘experiences, travel and time with family’, while adding that ‘time with family and friends’ is his ultimate form of relaxation.

Edo’s candid confessions about the importance of family come amid rumours surrounding the state of his marriage to Beatrice amid the fallout of her parents’ Epstein scandal.

Revelations about Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein’s friendship are said to have forced a ‘distance’ between the couple. However, a source told Hello magazine that alleged reports of troubles were ‘not true at all’ and that the couple were navigating ‘busy jobs and looking after their children’.

In March, Edo, who is descended from Italian nobility, jetted off to Florida to promote his high-end interior design studio Banda Property, rather than remain by Beatrice’s side during the fallout from the release of the Epstein Files.

Edo’s decision to travel to the United States, albeit for work, instead of remaining by his wife’s side sparked speculation that their marriage was on the rocks.

One source told the Daily Mail: ‘Things haven’t been great for a while between them, but Beatrice has been determined to soldier on and forge a path through.

‘Beatrice is quite different from her sister. She really wants to almost naively see the good in people and will turn a blind eye to uncomfortable truths – that is why she was blind to her father’s behaviour, and the same is true of her belief in Edo.

‘She wants to stay together, but he seems more and more distracted by work and travel. Just when she needs him most, he’s been pulling away.’

The controversy surrounding Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s shamed parents saw the two sisters retreat from public life as questions were raised about how much they knew about the former Duke and Duchess of York’s dealings with Epstein.

And the controversy has only intensified in the wake of the release of millions of documents connected to the billionaire financier, who died by suicide in prison while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

The file dump included a disturbing photograph of Andrew crouching on all fours over a female lying on the floor, as well as multiple damning revelations about his and Fergie’s association with the man convicted of soliciting sex from girls as young as 14.

It emerged that Andrew sent photographs of his daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, to Epstein in two festive emails in 2011 and 2012, up to two years after the former prince previously claimed to have cut off all contact with Epstein.

Astonishing emails unearthed by The Mail on Sunday revealed Fergie was so desperate to cosy up to the convicted paedophile that ‘she was the first to celebrate’ his release from jail ‘with her two daughters in tow’.

The Daily Mail also found an email from Epstein in 2015 where he told a friend not to worry about meeting Beatrice at an event in Mexico because she ‘liked’ him.

The fallout led to King Charles formally stripping Andrew of all his titles and forcing him out of Royal Lodge, with His Majesty’s younger brother being arrested on his 66th birthday by Thames Valley Police in an extraordinary moment for the monarchy.

Last month, Beatrice and Edo appeared to put on a united front as they were pictured in Athens, Greece, amid rumours of their marriage troubles.

No doubt still revelling in their sixth wedding anniversary celebrations, the pair met up with Athens-based art curator and independent art consultant Aliki Lampropoulos.

Though it’s not certain when the image was taken, Aliki, who served as a host committee member alongside the royal at The Charge charity gala in London in 2014, took to Instagram to share a selfie with the couple, who were seen beaming from ear to ear.

While the Greek art expert forwent a written caption, she added a bee emoji, perhaps indicating her nickname for Beatrice.

Earlier that month, Edo also praised the Princess of Wales on social media after she revealed she had completed the arduous Three Peaks Challenge to spread her message about life after cancer.

Writing under Catherine’s Instagram post, Edo left a series of applause emojis alongside a red heart, following speculation that the future Queen is not particularly close with either of the York princesses.
