Pringles offers fans $28K to take their love of chips to the grave as part of a bizarre Halloween giveaway

Pringles is offering one die-hard fan the chance to take their love of chips to the grave – with a bizarre Halloween giveaway featuring a custom urn shaped like its iconic can and $28,080 in cash.
The snack giant has launched a sweepstakes inviting Americans to prove their devotion by signing a mock will pledging to be buried in a Pringles can after they die.
The grand prize includes a personalized metal urn modeled after the brand’s distinctive cylindrical packaging, plus enough cash to buy 200 years’ worth of chips.
Dubbed ‘Once You Drop,’ the promotion is a play on Pringles’ famous slogan, ‘Once you pop, you can’t stop,’ and launched on October 13.
The cash prize represents the cost of buying 52 cans a year for 200 years, with each can valued at $2.70. The company will hand over the money rather than arrange for thousands of cans to be delivered to the winner.
The urn itself is valued at $500, bringing the total advertised prize package to $28,580.
To enter, fans must visit OnceYouDrop.com and sign a tongue-in-cheek document called the ‘Will and Taste-ament’ by October 22.
The contest is open to legal US residents aged 18 and older, with no purchase necessary. A winner is expected to be notified around Halloween.

But anyone considering making the pledge should know that it is not legally binding. Pringles’ official contest rules state that the document is for entertainment purposes only and that anyone who genuinely wants to be buried in a Pringles can should consult a legal adviser to make the necessary arrangements.
The unusual stunt is inspired by the real-life story of Fredric Baur, the food storage scientist who designed the famous Pringles can in 1966.
Baur was so proud of his creation that, after his death in 2008 at the age of 89, some of his cremated remains were buried in a Pringles can at his family’s request.
Eighteen years later, the brand is turning that unusual final wish into a marketing campaign designed to capture attention during the Halloween season.
Mauricio Jenkins, salty snacks brand and content lead at Mars Snacking North America, said the promotion was intended to take the company’s slogan to its most literal extreme.
‘Pringles has always been about the joy of the unexpected and this campaign takes our ‘Once You Drop’ campaign tagline literally: the pop don’t stop, not even once fans ‘drop’,’ he said.
The campaign also features funeral director Dan Madden, known online as Dan the Funeral Man, who appears in a promotional video encouraging fans to demonstrate their devotion to the snack.
The winner will receive a one-of-a-kind engraved urn with a removable lid, designed to resemble the familiar Pringles container.
The promotion comes as brands increasingly lean into unusual stunts and dark humor to stand out during Halloween, when consumers are inundated with themed products and seasonal marketing.
For Pringles fans, the giveaway offers a particularly memorable way to demonstrate their loyalty – even if the promise to take their favorite snack to the grave is, for now, just a marketing gimmick.
