Rudy Giuliani appreciates ‘outpouring of love and prayers’ as he moves out of intensive care unit at hospital

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has moved out of the intensive care unit in hospital, according to his spokesperson.

Ted Goodman added that the 81-year-old, who was hospitalized on Sunday, and the former mayor’s family appreciate the “outpouring of love and prayers” sent to them over the past week.

Although he has left the ICU, Giuliani “will spend some time recovering before leaving the hospital,” Goodman says.

“The power of prayer is working,” he wrote on X. “The mayor feels it. We feel it. Please keep them coming for America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani.”

On Monday, Goodman confirmed that the former mayor is recovering from pneumonia.

According to Goodman, the virus had “quickly overwhelmed” Giuliani’s body with medics administering mechanical ventilation to maintain adequate oxygen levels.

In the post, the spokesperson confirmed that Giuliani was now breathing on his own.

His partner Maria Ryan told Fox News that the former mayor began to feel ill while returning home from a trip to Paris.

When his condition turned critical, a priest was called to Giuliani’s bedside to perform last rites, Ryan said.

“This guy’s got 9 lives; today he’s doing much better,” she added.

Giuliani earned the nickname “America’s Mayor” following his handling of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York.

“On September 11th, Mayor Giuliani ran toward the towers to help those in need, which later led to a diagnosis of restrictive airway disease,” his spokesman wrote on X.

Michael Barasch, an attorney representing Giuliani, told The New York Times that his client was applying to enrol in the World Trade Center Health Program.

The scheme pays for medical research and provides free medical care to people affected by the 9/11 attacks.
