We all know the feeling of boarding the plane and staring longingly at the first few rows of the cabin, where the lucky passengers who boarded first are stretching out with all that extra legroom.

Next time you fly, you could be enjoying the VIP treatment too, without the eye-watering price tag of business class.

Right now is the time to book an Economy X seat on Virgin Australia.

The airline has dropped 30 per cent on upgrades from standard seating to Economy X until July 9, giving passengers all the extra perks for less.

Choosing Economy X unlocks Priority Boarding, extra leg room, the best seats in the cabin, guaranteed overhead locker space, and additional carry-on allowance, for not much more than a standard seat.

Economy X is available as an upgrade option on all domestic and short-haul international flights, so whether you’re popping to Melbourne, grabbing some winter sun in Queensland, or heading over to Bali on holiday, it’s a cost-effective way to add a little luxury to your travel.

From now until July 9, travellers can upgrade new or existing bookings on Economy seats to Economy X for 30 per cent off the already great-value fee.

You’ll find the Economy X upgrade option on the seat selection page during the booking process, after you’ve selected your fare.

If you’ve already booked a Virgin Australia flight, you don’t miss out on the deal – you can add an Economy X upgrade through ‘manage my booking’ on the website.

Upgrades are also available by calling Virgin’s Guest Contact Centre, or even at check-in at the airport, if available.

Economy X is the savvy traveller’s hack for enjoying VIP perks on an economy budget. For example, for a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast in August, for as little as $8 after the 30% discount (for an Exit Row seat).

International upgrades don’t break the bank either: Flying from Sydney to Fiji in September will set you back just $53.

In addition to the great seats, Priority Boarding, up to 40 per cent more legroom, and two bags totalling 14kg of carry-on allowance that comes with all Economy X upgrades, select international routes also offer dedicated check-in at the airport*.

Skipping the check-in queues means you’ll be in holiday mode quicker as you kick back at the bar or enjoy some airport retail therapy.

With the EOFY sales on, Virgin is offering great deals on destinations around Australia and beyond.

With fares as little as $65 from Sydney to Byron, or the Gold Coast from $95 – it’s the perfect time to book a spontaneous getaway, and with 30 per cent off Economy X upgrades, you can enjoy all the VIP perks too.
