Seattle Seahawks agree deal with veteran NFL running back Joe Mixon in bid to solve their injury crisis

The Seattle Seahawks are signing veteran running back Joe Mixon.
The reigning Super Bowl champions have agreed to terms on a contract for the 30-year-old veteran after he completed a physical on Monday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Seattle’s plan is to sign Mixon to its practice squad initially. The Seahawks next play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
Mixon, who had spells with the Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans, is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and will bring experience to Mike Macdonald’s running back room.
He missed the 2025 season through a mystery injury and was released by the Texans in March.
Houston general manager Nick Caserio had previously said Mixon was sidelined by a ‘freak’ foot injury. Then, in July, reports emerged that the running back had told some teammates that ‘he is not going to play football anymore.’

Seahawks rookie running back Jadarian Price was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers because of a chest injury.
Price, who was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, aggravated the injury during practice on Wednesday.
Seattle selected Price, 22, in the first round of this year’s draft. He made his debut in Seattle´s opener against the New England Patriots, finishing with 52 yards on 10 carries. He also caught a pair of passes for 6 yards in the Seahawks´ 13-10 win.
He left in the first half of Seattle’s 31-7 victory over Arizona because of the chest injury, then last week lost a fumble early in a 33-31 loss at Washington.
