Shock as mom delivers record-breaking GIANT twins weighing a combined 19 pounds

A mother who gave birth to a record-breaking set of twins that weighed a combined 19 pounds has shared her shock over their massive size.
Hope Henderson, 31, from Evanston, Wyoming, welcomed her son Clay, who weighed nine pounds four ounces, and daughter Leah, who weighed nine pounds six ounces, in early March.
Together, their weight totaled 19 pounds – setting a new record for the state.
According to the Wyoming Department of Health, the record was previously set in 2024 for twins who weighed a combined 16 pounds.
Henderson, who already shared two children with her husband Raleigh Henderson, told Today recently that she believes genetics are to thank for her twins’ massive size.
‘I’ve always had big babies,’ she explained, before revealing that her first daughter Joy, now four, weighed eight pounds seven ounces at birth.
Her second daughter Ann, one, weighed nine pounds 13 ounces.
She confessed that carrying the twins wasn’t easy for her, telling Cowboy State Daily: ‘I got pretty big. I could barely do anything.’

She added to the Today show that her stomach got so large strangers would stare in public and some even stopped her at the food store.
Henderson recalled one time a woman approached her and told her she had never seen anyone who looked as pregnant as her.
‘I’ll take that as a compliment,’ she remembered thinking.
By week 32 of her pregnancy, Henderson said she felt like she was already full-term and couldn’t imagine carrying until her due date.
More than half of twin pregnancies end in preterm delivery (37 weeks), per Hopkins Medicine. The average weight of twins at birth is five pounds each.
She ultimately didn’t give birth until after her due date, at 40 weeks and two days.
‘So many people had been asking, “Oh, when are you going to get induced?” or, “Oh, you still haven’t had the babies yet?” And I made it to my due date on top of everything,’ she told The Standard.
Henderson ultimately welcomed the twins in a birthing pool at a birth center in Ogden, Utah, and her midwife was immediately shocked at their size.

‘When I had the twins come out, we put them on the scale and she was like, “Oh my gosh, I’ve never had two nine-pound twins like that,”‘ Henderson recalled.
‘She said the last twins that she delivered that were that weight were over 18 years ago and they were eight pounds each.
‘I was so freshly postpartum that I was just happy that my twins were there, they were both healthy and everything went smoothly.
‘Normally, people see four-pound twins or six-pound twins. It made me laugh because it was like so funny I’d just had two full nine-pound twins.’
Now, three months old, she said her babies are both thriving and already weigh more than 14 pounds each.
‘It goes to show that if you eat good prenatally and you exercise and you take care of your body and you have a good mindset – I had the mindset I was going to make it full-term – that you can have a good birth and you can have healthy babies,’ she concluded.
‘I’m pretty grateful my body was able to grow two healthy babies.’
