Skye Wheatley reveals she’s run out of money and can’t complete her home renovation – six years after purchasing Spanish-inspired mansion
Skye Wheatley has revealed that financial issues have slowed the completion of her Gold Coast renovation.
The 31-year-old former Big Brother star admitted that she was facing budget problems during an online question-and-answer session this week.
Skye appeared to let slip that she had run out of money while sharing details about plans to upgrade the property’s grounds.
‘Still need to do all the landscaping and the pool house,’ she posted to her Instagram Stories alongside a picture of a beautiful garden water feature.
She also shared a photo of a small built-in pool, trimmed with a timber deck and commented: ‘We’ll probably do something like this because of budget.’
Elsewhere in the reel, Skye admitted that her reno would not be finished ‘for ages’.

The influencer also posted a video to her grid in which she could be seen moving furniture into her common room.
She also shared that she was helping to fix up her mother’s property nearby.
Skye has frequently shared progress on her renovation since she bought the rundown Spanish-inspired mansion in 2019, with many updates containing plenty of drama.
In July 2025, the social media star confessed that she faced an emotional meltdown.
‘Wait till I update you on the latest reno disasters,’ she wrote.
‘I actually started crying and walked out when the trades were asking me questions.’
At the time, Skye and her boyfriend Lachlan Waugh were struggling to complete their dream home in Tallai after snapping it up for a mere $975,000.
In another post, the influencer joked about the size of the staircase – the same feature that fans slammed as ‘too big for the space’ – and shrugged off concerns about the pendant lighting, which she said now resembled something X-rated.

‘Hahaha that’s what Lachy said and I agree,’ she wrote in response to a follower who said the light was too small.
‘But I’m at the point now where I don’t even give a flying f**k if there’s a penis pendant hanging from the ceiling after five years of reno.’
Skye’s renovation saga has dragged on since 2019.
Six years later, the house is still unfinished – plagued by budget blowouts, emotional stress and construction delays.
At one point, the couple were living in a half-renovated section of the house while Skye was pregnant with their second child.
She has continued to share regular updates with her 647,000 followers and has even hinted at a full house tour when the renovation is finally complete.
