Sunny Hostin stopped The View in its tracks Tuesday after she revealed she was the holdout juror in a well-known New York City homicide case surrounding a cannibal who killed and ate a 26-year-old Swiss dancer back in 1989.
The panel had been discussing the case of Lindsay Clancy, which ended in a mistrial this month due to a lone juror.
The juror, since identified as Michael Desronvil, sought to find the mother guilty of murder in the strangling of her own children.
Former federal prosecutor Hostin, 57, sided with the other 11 jurors, flaunting the fact that ‘the insanity defense has been around in Massachusetts for 182 years.’ Clancy’s team maintained the mother lacked any ‘criminal responsibility.’
‘I thought absolutely she was not criminally responsible, by reason of insanity,’ Hostin ageed.
‘And the reason I felt- I feel so strongly about this holdout juror, is because I was a holdout juror in a case.
‘In the Daniel Rakowitz case – I don’t know if people remember it,’ she candidly revealed.
The admission left the other hosts stunned. ‘You got this guy off?’ Alyssa Farah Griffin asked at a point, after Hostin ran through the case’s more stomach-turning details.

‘The guy who ate the victims?’ Joy Behar asked. Hostin had just highlighted the killer’s press-given moniker: ‘The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park.’
‘It was before I went to law school,’ Hostin said, setting up the story.
She proudly brought up how a producer found a newspaper clipping that proved her participation in Rakowitz’s 1991 murder trial.
Rakowitz, an eccentric cannabis dealer known to wander around the East Village with a Bible and live rooster in tow, was ultimately acquited.
‘I’m in the New York Times,’ Hostin said. A passage from the report put on-screen contained a quote from Hostin.
‘We don’t think he intended to Kill her,’ she told the paper at the time.
