Tammy Hembrow Calls Out ‘Insane’ Dating Double Standard

Australian influencer and soon-to-be reality TV star Tammy Hembrow has called out the double standards women face when it comes to dating.
Taking to Stellar‘s podcast, Something To Talk About, the fitfluencer who boasts more than 16.3 million followers on Instagram, Hembrow opened up about the public reaction to her rumoured romance with AFL star Bailey Smith.
“You go on like a couple of dates with one person, and all of a sudden, I’m being called all these names. It’s just crazy to me,” she said.
“I feel like in any situation, a woman going on dates after being separated and then breaking up, it’s normal, and for me, I get called every name, the trolls love to hate on it.”

To give you a quick recap, Hembrow’s love life has been in the limelight ever since she shot to internet fame with her millions of followers. However, more recently, the influencer has been under an immense amount of scrutiny for being spotted on dates two months after her divorce from Matt Zukowski.
Her relationship with Zukowski was also marred by controversy, with online trolls questioning the seriousness of their relationship, especially the fact that they got engaged after three months of dating publicly.

The pair were only married for seven months before they went public with their divorce.
“I’m like, I’m just a normal girl. I should be able to date at some point,” Hembrow said in the Stellar podcast.

“I feel like if men did the exact same thing, no one says a word about it, but women are held to such a different standard,” she said.
“It is insane. It was frustrating. I know I haven’t always made the best relationship choices, and I’m fully aware of that, and I am a human being.”
She also spoke out about how some online trolls questioned her parenting and how she balances being a mother while dating, as well as being a public figure who travels for work.
“[Women are] expected to be the ones staying at home with the kids. Sometimes I have to go away for work,” she dished.
“If a man travels to another state for work, it’s not a problem. But if a woman does it, the world ends, apparently… I’m often put into a box, where I can be one thing or another. But I’m all of these things. I’m multifaceted. I’m a complex human being like everyone else.”

Hembrow has previously spoken up about the struggles of having her love life in the media. In October 2025, the influencer admitted that the media coverage surrounding her love life took a toll on her mental health on Nova’s Mad About You podcast.
“Yeah, it’s tough, especially, dealing with my relationship stuff so publicly, my breakup, my divorce, I’m going through now,” Hembrow said at the time.
“I feel like now I’m sort of at a point where I couldn’t care less what anyone says about anything. But I feel like in the beginning, when I was navigating the breakdown of my relationship, it was especially tough then, because people were commenting, ‘Oh, she’s not wearing a ring’, and this and that.
“I was just dealing with it in the moment myself and having people all comment on stuff, sort of like, it was just a really weird space to be in, and I got to a really not great place mentally.”
Regardless of the hate, Hembrow has seemingly let her lover girl flag fly high as she’s reportedly now in a relationship with model Grayson Te Moana.
