Tech billionaire allegedly had ‘romantic relationship’ with suspected Chinese spy, who the US believes could put Nvidia boss at risk of honey trap, report claims

Billionaire Nvidia boss Jensen Huang allegedly had a romantic relationship with a Chinese businesswoman suspected of spying for Beijing, according to an explosive US intelligence memo.
The alleged tryst has raised fears of a potential honey trap targeting one of America’s most powerful technology executives.
The 63-year-old tech mogul reportedly became romantically involved with Alice Huang (no relation), an executive at Singapore-based Megaspeed.
Megaspeed, a major Nvidia customer, was already under investigation over allegations it helped funnel restricted American microchips into China.
US intelligence officials believe the woman was recruited by China’s Ministry of State Security, Beijing’s principal civilian spy agency, to gather information about the Nvidia chief and potentially influence his decisions.
The allegations emerged in a new Financial Times report, which revealed that American officials had prepared a classified memo detailing the suspected relationship earlier this year.
The document, based on intelligence gathered by US agencies, was circulated among a small group of senior government officials shortly before President Donald Trump’s trip to Beijing in May for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The revelation goes significantly further than earlier reporting by The New York Times, which disclosed that Huang had developed a ‘close relationship’ with the Chinese executive but stopped short of describing it as romantic.

The Financial Times is the first to report that the US government believes the relationship was intimate, adding a new dimension to concerns that the Nvidia boss was being targeted in a Chinese intelligence operation.
It remains unclear whether American intelligence believes Huang knew the woman was allegedly working for Beijing or whether any sensitive information was compromised.
Huang has not been accused of knowingly assisting Chinese intelligence, and the reported relationship has not been independently established.
Nvidia has not commented on the alleged romance or the intelligence memo.
The company has previously dismissed suggestions that Huang’s dealings with Alice Huang were unusual, insisting they were consistent with his responsibilities as the head of a global technology giant.
‘Jensen’s interactions with Ms. Huang are not unusual or unexpected,’ a spokesman previously told the Daily Mail.
‘Meetings with customers are part of a CEO’s job; Jensen talks with thousands of customer executives every year.’
The pair were photographed together at a bar in Taipei in June 2024, where Huang was seen wearing his trademark black leather jacket and enjoying whiskey with other technology executives.

Alice Huang sat beside him during the gathering, which followed a technology trade show. Photographs were subsequently shared on LinkedIn by technology company NetThunder.
They were reportedly seen together again in May 2025, leaving a restaurant in Taipei after a dinner attended by artificial intelligence suppliers.
According to the Times, Alice Huang waited while the Nvidia chief spoke with journalists outside.
The alleged relationship has alarmed American officials because of Huang’s extraordinary influence over the global artificial intelligence industry and his unusually close access to President Trump.
Nvidia, valued at more than $5 trillion, produces the advanced processors that have become essential to developing sophisticated AI systems.
Its technology is also at the center of Washington’s increasingly bitter struggle to prevent China from gaining access to chips that could accelerate Beijing’s military development.
Huang has repeatedly lobbied Trump to relax restrictions on sales of advanced Nvidia processors to China, arguing that allowing American companies to compete in the Chinese market would help counter domestic rivals such as Huawei.
He personally pressed the president to permit exports of Nvidia’s powerful H200 chips, despite concerns among national security officials.
Huang has made a number of appearances with Trump in his second term, and the Nvidia boss revealed earlier this year that the president often calls him late at night

The Trump administration subsequently authorized certain sales under restrictions, although shipments had stalled by the time of the president’s May summit with Xi.
The Chinese intelligence agency allegedly recruited Alice Huang to learn more about American AI technology and potentially influence Nvidia’s position on supplying advanced chips to China, according to the Times.
Her employer, Megaspeed, was spun off from a Chinese gaming company in 2023 and subsequently expanded into the lucrative business of operating AI data centers.
The company has faced scrutiny over suspicions that advanced Nvidia processors were diverted to China in violation of American export restrictions.
However, Nvidia previously investigated the allegations and said it found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Its spokesman has also insisted that regional cloud customers receive ordinary business information rather than sensitive company secrets or material relevant to US national security.
The reported intelligence findings have now sparked demands for answers on Capitol Hill.
Republican congressmen Brian Mast, John Moolenaar and Rick Crawford, who chair three powerful House committees, have asked Huang to attend a closed-door briefing on November 18.

Huang reportedly set off alarm bells in the White House and US intelligence circles with his ‘close relationship’ with the suspected Chinese spy
The lawmakers want to question him about his interactions with Alice Huang and the measures Nvidia has implemented to protect itself against foreign espionage.
Their request follows the Times’ earlier revelations that American intelligence agencies had monitored Alice Huang electronically for at least a year.
Trump was reportedly briefed last year about the Chinese executive’s suspected activities and her relationship with the Nvidia boss but chose not to intervene.
Despite the intelligence concerns, Huang has continued to enjoy extremely close access to the president.
When Trump prepared to fly to Beijing in May, Huang was initially excluded from the group of American executives accompanying him.
But after discovering his absence, Trump is said to have telephoned the Nvidia chief, who flew to Alaska and boarded Air Force One during a stopover.
Huang subsequently attended the state dinner Trump hosted for Xi during the Chinese leader’s visit to Washington in September.
China has previously dismissed the espionage allegations as unsubstantiated.
The Daily Mail has contacted Nvidia and the White House for comment.
