Our wine expert reveals her favourite reds under £10

Are the days of the decent sub-£10 bottle numbered? With inflation, duty hikes and rising production and supply costs, many affordable favourites have crept over a tenner. I’ve been increasingly worried about the situation – but I’m pleased to report that I’ve tasted plenty of great-value gems this season. Here are four delicious winter reds to warm you up.
Crafted by the prestigious Symington family, this modern Portuguese find delivers an elegant, silky sip, with bright blackcurrant, violet florals and a lovely lifting freshness.
Graciano, a lesser-known Spanish grape usually found in blends, takes centre stage in this food-friendly red, packed with dark berry fruit, thyme and sweet spice.
My first taste of the ancient Kratošija grape, a robust style with bold blackberry and cherry fruit and a peppery, savoury edge. Perfect for roasted meats or hearty stews.
A Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, this dependable, medium-bodied red gives juicy fruit and herbs. Sure to please both bold and lighter red drinkers.
