Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal push for Alvarez, Man City target Liverpool winger, Watkins’ Villa exit

Man City interested in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo
This is quite an unexpected rumour and it comes from Sky Sports who say that Manchester City are interested in Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo already has one Premier League suitor in Tottenham Hotspur but with Liverpool’s ongoing search for a new winger unresolved it feels unlikely that they would let him leave without a guaranteed replacement.
The report says that no talks have happenend between the clubs and that Liverpool do not want to sell him.
Additionally, Man City have a verbal agreement with Palmeiras to sign Brazilian winger Allan for £34m as a replacement for the departing Savinho.

Arsenal given hope in push to sign Julian Alvarez before transfer deadline
Arsenal have been given encouragement that a Julian Alvarez deal may be possible before the end of the window, as the Premier League champions actively work on a deal.
There is still a long way to go before any deal is possible, but the London club are attempting to negotiate that price down, while the Kroenke ownership are taking the view they did on Vinicius Junior, which is that they are willing to back the right big move.
