Ukraine-Russia war latest: Zelensky accuses Putin of ‘nuclear terrorism’ over drone activity at Chernobyl

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky accused Vladimir Putin of “nuclear terrorism” and warned that Russian military activity near Chernobyl risked repeating history.
Zelensky was speaking on Sunday during the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl reactor disaster.
“Russia is once again bringing the world to the brink of a man-made disaster – Russian-Iranian Shaheds (drones) regularly fly over the plant, and one of them struck the confinement last year,” he said.
“The world must not allow this nuclear terrorism to continue, and the best way is to force Russia to stop its reckless attacks,” Zelensky said, speaking as at least 16 people were killed in Ukraine and Russian-occupied Ukraine yesterday.
This comes as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un vowed to strengthen military support for Russia after Moscow’s defence minister attended a memorial in Pyongyang honouring North Korean soldiers killed while fighting in Russia’s Kursk.
Russian and North Korean officials agreed to “long-term” military cooperation to place efforts on a “stable, long-term footing” till 2031.
