Urgent.. Dar Al-Iftaa: “Hideousness” is a practice forbidden by Islamic law

The Egyptian Fatwa House confirmed that what is known as “the ugly” – It is a claim to know innocence or guilt by forcing the accused to lick a copper vessel heated by fire until it becomes red. It has no basis in Islamic law in any way, and dealing with it is forbidden by law. Because of the harm, torture, and damage it entails to humans, and because of the false speculations that it contains that are not based on any reliable way to prove rights or deny charges, explaining that Islamic law has laid out clear and fair ways to prove rights and ward off charges, based on reliable legal evidence, foremost of which is what was stated in the saying of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family: “The proof is on the one who claims, And the oath is upon the one who denies. These are well-established rules that preserve people’s rights and establish the scales of justice away from methods that expose a person to harm or humiliation.

Dar al-Iftaa stressed in a statement that the purposes of Islamic law came to protect the human soul and preserve human dignity, and that Islam did not permit in any way practices based on torture, humiliation, or abuse, but rather rejected all methods by which human sanctity is violated under false claims or inherited customs that do not It is based on law and not reason, showing that ugliness is a clear violation of these purposes. It wastes a person’s dignity and exposes him to physical and psychological harm without a legitimate or legal basis, warning against being led into wrong customs or inheritances that are disguised as proving the truth, but in reality they are invalid and forbidden. Not only a legal duty, but also a societal responsibility that contributes to establishing a culture of justice and mercy, and strengthening confidence in state institutions and legitimate and legal methods of litigation.

 

The Fatwa House concluded its statement with a sincere call to preserve human dignity, which God has glorified, and to stay away from every practice that exposes people to injustice or injustice. Harm.

 

She emphasized that resorting to Sharia and the law is the best way to preserve rights and stabilize society, and that Islam’s mercy and justice are too broad to be reduced to false customs or methods that humiliate humans. We ask God to grant us insight and maturity, to make kindness and justice an approach that spreads tranquility and security among people, and to inspire society with an awareness that preserves human rights and dignity in every situation.
