It’s almost here! The Met Gala, fashion’s night of nights, is upon our doorstop. Each year on the first Monday in May, Anna Wintour and The Metropolitan Museum of Art throw open their doors, roll out the red carpet, and welcome a very A-list guest list up the famous stairs.
While the Met Gala plays out all over socials (including ours, follow along), the real juice is in the red-carpet live stream. Wondering how to watch the Met Gala from Australia? We’ve got you covered.
What day is the 2026 Met Gala, and what time does it start?
The Met Gala always takes place on the first Monday in May. This year, that falls on May 4, 2026, which means Australians will be witnessing the fashion on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Time zones: they’re enough to make anyone drink.
Festivities kick off around 8am AEST, and by festivities, we mean the red carpet.
Where to watch the 2026 Met Gala from Australia
As always, Vogue will be live-streaming the Met Gala red carpet both online and via YouTube. This year, the live stream will be hosted by Ashley Graham, Cara Delevingne, and La La Anthony, with Met Gala correspondent mainstay Emma Chamberlain back as a special correspondent.

What is the 2026 Met Gala theme?
So glad you asked!
The 2026 Met exhibit is ‘Costume Art’, while the different but corresponding Met Gala dress code is ‘Fashion Is Art’. We guess Anna Wintour got tired of celebrities wearing naked dresses every year, whether it was on theme or not. (We’re looking at you, butt crack queens of 2024: Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Rita Ora, Emily Ratajkowski, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Tyla.)

Andrew Bolton, The Met’s long-time curator, describes the exhibition as a celebration of the “dressed body” and its “indivisible connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear”.
Who is attending the Met Gala?
Only a few celebrities are confirmed for the Met Gala, and that’s the co-hosts: Beyoncé, Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman. A triple slay! You can also expect to see lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, which is the opposite of a triple slay. Money can buy you everything except public adoration, apparently.

It’s likely we’ll see some Met Gala mainstays as well: a Kardashian–Jenner or two, a Gigi and/or Bella Hadid emergence, and whoever is super buzzy right now. Hacks queens Jean Smart and Hannah Einbeinder? Jacob Elordi? KATSEYE?!? Wait and see.
We can live in hope that the Olsen twins make their Met Gala return after so many years, but TBC. One thing’s for certain: these celebs definitely won’t be making an appearance.
See you on Monday Tuesday!
