Will accelerate integration of indigenous weapons: New CDS General Raja Subramani

New Delhi: General Raja Subramani, who took over as the new chief of defence staff on Sunday, promised to accelerate integration of indigenous weapon systems into the armed forces and said that greater collaboration with the industry, startups and research ecosystem will be the key enabler of modernisation.

General Subramani is likely to have a tenure of over four years. Known for his work on easing capital procurements and encouraging Make in India, he earlier served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff and his last posting before taking over as CDS was military advisor to the National Security Council Secretariat.

“We will accelerate the development, induction and integration of indigenous weapons in our armed forces. Greater collaboration between military, industry, academia, startups and the research ecosystem will be the key enabler for modernisation,” he said, adding he is committed to innovation and transformation of the armed forces to enhance synergy and integration.
