Woke Democrats turn Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas into a ‘liberal anthem’ after state flips blue and Republicans are wiped out in midterm bloodbath
Liberals and Democrats are now claiming the country mega-hit Choosin’ Texas as their own following the results of the US midterms.
The song, from Alabama-born songstress Ella Langley, became a symbol of Trump’s America after it made Billboard chart history this year, enraging woke music lovers in the process.
But now attitudes towards the track have changed overnight after the Republicans were decimated in the midterms on Tuesday, losing control of the House and the Senate and flipping Texas from red to blue for the first time in over three decades.
‘Officially the most liberal song ever made!’ gushed influencer Horace Gold as he lip-synced the country tune in a now viral Instagram reel.
‘MAGA got YMCA, woke got Choosin’ Texas,’ wrote one X user.
‘The way Choosin’ Texas is about to see another 26-week run on the Billboard chart because the other side of the country takes it over…’ another posted.

Even James Talerico, who defeated scandal-plagued Republican Ken Paxton to become the first Democrat elected to the state’s Senate delegation in 38 years, used the song in a post to celebrate his victory.
The post was a collaboration with Gina Hinojosa, who ousted Texas governor Greg Abbott, with the pair celebrating their wins with a soda at a local Whataburger as Choosin’ Texas played.
The extraordinary victory shatters a Republican stranglehold on the Lone Star State, which has not elected a Democrat to any statewide office since 1994. It dealt a devastating blow to President Donald Trump and helped secure a Democratic Senate majority.
Since Tuesday’s midterms, Choosin’ Texas has returned to No. 1 on Apple Music and has climbed back to No. 3 on Spotify’s Top Songs chart in the US.
Choosin’ Texas has already landed its record-extending 26th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
It already defeated Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You, Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy), and Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road for the most weeks at No. 1 in Hot 100 history.
While Langley has been considered by many as one of the faces of MAGA culture since she skyrocketed to stardom earlier this year, the 27-year-old has never spoken publicly about her political beliefs.

Langley has never confirmed her personal political beliefs, but in 2020 she wore a T-shirt that said her political affiliation was ‘country music’
In 2020, she was pictured wearing a T-shirt with three checkboxes, which read ‘Democrat’, ‘Republican’, and ‘country music’.
The only box checked on the shirt was ‘country music’.
She captioned the photo: ‘”Hey Ella, what is your political stance?” Me: Casually looks down at my shirt.’
While Langley has been quiet about her political beliefs, other country artists haven’t been so restrained.
The Chicks, led by lead singer Natalie Maines, posed with fans emblazoned with the words ‘f**k Trump’ during a Los Angeles concert on Tuesday night.
‘Hello, Los Angeles. Welcome to our bluenami night. So glad we could enjoy this night together,’ she told the crowd.
‘Texas is blue, the Senate is blue, the house is blue. This was gonna be a very different night if that wasn’t the case.’
Spokesperson for The White House, Davis Ingle, released a statement to The Daily Mail in response to the act which read: ‘Natalie Maines is a despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted her peanut-sized brain.’
