You Deserve to Know Casts Nina Dobrev & Paul Wesley As Leads

Friends, it’s happening “Stelena” are coming back to our screens. Yep, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are reuniting nine years after the end of our beloved comfort show, The Vampire Diaries, to star in the new Hulu series You Deserve to Know.
Based on the 2025 thriller book of the same name by Aggie Blum Thompson, You Deserve to Know follows three tight-knit suburban couples (and best friends) living on a seemingly peaceful cul-de-sac in East Bethesda, until one of the husbands, Anton, is found brutally murdered.
Nina announced the new show on Instagram. “I’ve been waiting to share this one. ❤️,” her caption began.
“@paulwesley and I are reuniting to executive produce and star in ‘You Deserve to Know’. We fell in love with this novel, and getting to help shape its adaptation from both sides of the camera has been incredibly exciting.
“So grateful to our partners at @hulu, @unwell, @alexandracooper and @kapital_entertainment. Let’s do this!!!!! 🚀🚀🚀.”
She added a picture of the announcement on her Instagram Stories, writing: “Some things refuse to stay buried.”
Speaking with People recently, Paul actually teased that a reunion was something they’ve been actively trying to make happen.
“Nina and I have always thought of doing something together. So, maybe there’s a world in which Nina and I can do something together,” he said.
So are Stelena fans finally getting the romance we deserve?! Alas, after some digging, we’ve realised that they aren’t playing love interests this time around.
Instead, Nina plays Gwen, the suburban wife and mother whose world completely implodes when her husband is murdered. And Paul plays Scott, one of her neighbours. As the police investigation heats up, Gwen and Scott find themselves on fiercely opposite sides of the mystery.
Ooo, ~mystery~.

While Nina and Paul are best friends nowadays, true TVD fans know the lore. Speaking to fellow Vampire Diaries alum Kayla Ewell on her podcast, Directionally Challenged, back in 2019, Nina revealed that they initially “despised” Paul. “I respected Paul Wesley; I didn’t like Paul Wesley,” she noted.
She added, “Everyone thought that we had such good chemistry. I realise now that there’s a fine line between love and hate, and we despised each other so much that it read as love, but… We really just didn’t get along the first five months of shooting.”
Apparently, one day, Paul approached her, saying, “Ten years from now, when we’re not on this show, you’re going to really miss me. Like you’re going to miss these times, and you’re gonna look back, and this is gonna be the good ol’ days, and we’ll appreciate each other in 10 years.” And looking back, Nina admits he was “so f*cking right.”
“We ended up getting to a good place, and it was fine, but of everyone, I think I probably see him the most and hang out with him the most 1782440119. We’re probably the closest, like, we hang out a lot, and we’re really good friends, and I love his wife. It’s so funny how much has changed because I never thought that he would be one of my best friends.”

Naturally, TVD fans are excited to see the actors onscreen together again. “OMG!!!!! ELENA AND STEFAN REUNION!!!!!!! Not literally Elena and Stefan, but OMG!!!!” one wrote. “Epic full circle moment. Love to see it,” said another.
We’re feeling pretty epic right now, TBH. Since the show has just been announced, literally this morning, there isn’t an official release date or trailer just yet.
I guess we’ll all just have to go binge-watch TVD for the millionth time.
