Reduce harm to health when working at a computer

When working at the computer in a sitting position, all the load is transferred to the spine and pelvis, so it is important to maintain the correct body position at the table, said Alina Khripkova, therapist at the Medical Service.

“An orthopedic chair cushion can be an alternative to buying a custom office chair. It distributes the load on the spine evenly, reducing pressure on the coccyx.”

In addition, a special laptop stand is also useful, which will help keep the monitor at eye level.

“This will make it easier to maintain the correct posture – you don’t have to tilt your head forward and keep your neck muscles tight. A hammock or footstool improves blood flow from the legs through the veins and reduces the feeling of heaviness in the legs,” said Khripkova.

These devices will help make sedentary work more comfortable, but the main thing for health is movement. The therapist advises doing physical activity, walking more in your spare time, and be sure to take warm-up breaks while working at the computer. It’s healthier than sitting still all day, even with the most comfortable desk accessories.
