Malta allows the carrying, buying and growing of cannabis for personal purposes

The Republic of Malta has become the first country in the European Union to allow the use of cannabis for personal purposes, according to the Times of Malta.

Currently, the law has been approved by the Maltese Parliament.

“Parliament has approved a cannabis law that will allow consumers to carry, purchase and grow the drug, making Malta the first European country to introduce laws regulating the recreational use of cannabis,” the report said.

According to the law, citizens of the island country will be able to grow up to four plants for their own use. In addition, Malta residents who were previously convicted of drug possession and use will have the opportunity to challenge their convictions.

However, the use of cannabis in public places will still be prohibited.

Earlier, the new German authorities agreed to legalize cannabis.
