The United Nations General Assembly adopts a resolution to combat the glorification of Nazism

130 countries voted in favor of the document entitled “Combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”.

49 countries abstained from voting. The agency says that the United States and Ukraine opposed this.

The resolution recommends that states take appropriate concrete measures, “including in the legislative and educational spheres, in accordance with their international human rights obligations, in order to prevent the reversal of the consequences of World War II and the denial of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during World War II.”
