Drink doubles the risk of cancer

Researchers at Cancer Research UK said that alcohol increases the risk of developing cancer.

According to experts, alcohol can damage the cells of the body – alcohol turns into a substance called acetaldehyde, which can lead to cell division, similar to cancer.
Drinking alcohol increases the level of hormones such as estrogen and insulin. They are the chemical mediators that promote cell division.

Scientists also noted that alcohol alters the cells of the mouth and throat, increasing the likelihood that they will absorb harmful chemicals that provoke the emergence of cancer.

Experts say that drinking more than 3.5 servings of alcohol per day doubles or triples the risk of developing cancer of the mouth, throat and larynx. They also warned that people who drink alcohol and smoke tobacco are at greater risk.
