Somali president suspends prime minister’s post over corruption allegations

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed has temporarily suspended the powers of the country’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble. Reason that Ruble became a defendant in the corruption case.

“Since the prime minister has been involved in a case of corruption and embezzlement of state funds, his powers are suspended until the investigation is completed,” said the letter, which was posted on the Somali government’s website.

The website of the President of Somalia also reported that the rest of the government members will continue their work and will do it according to the law.

Abdullah Mohamed, the commander of the Somali army, Odoh Yusuf Raji, also ordered the dismissal of the commander of the Somali navy, Abdelhamid Mohamed Dreyer, from his post.

And the media wrote, that Somalia as a state no longer actually exists, after it lost all the features of a single state and was divided into many provinces controlled by warring field commanders.
The northern part of the country declared its independence as the Republic of Somaliland and remains relatively stable. Some sources tend to assess the current situation in the country as chaos.

Since 2012, the federal government has been continually negotiating, as a result of which independent federal states, controlled or allied with the federal government, are gradually being formalized.
