The Independent: The Taliban are looking for Afghans who helped Britain

The British newspaper The Independent wrote about thousands of Afghans who helped the British army, who remained in the country after the Taliban came to power and are now forced into hiding.

The paper notes that these people are eligible for asylum in the UK under the Afghanistan Resettlement and Assistance policy, but they cannot exercise it.

Former translators told reporters that they had been forced into hiding from the new authorities.

We stayed with relatives in Helmand. The danger is great. It’s very dangerous here.
Every day we are threatened by the Taliban. They are looking for us. “We are hiding and we are not going anywhere,” one of them said.

The British authorities advised them to go to Pakistan, which they could not do due to the lack of passports.
