Greek Prime Minister expects an imminent end to the epidemic

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the emergence of the Omicron strain may be the last chapter in the history of the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement came at a meeting with Mitsotakis staff at Soteria Hospital, which he attended along with the country’s Health Minister Thanos Ploris and his deputy, Mina Gaga.

Mitsotakis congratulated the doctors on the new year and thanked them for their dedicated fight against the epidemic. He noted that the next few weeks will be difficult due to the expected outbreak of COVID-19 cases on the back of the omicron spread. But he added that infection with this strain is relatively easy.

Mitsotakis summed up: “If this is the case, it will be a ray of optimism, some scientists believe that Omicron may be the final chapter.”
