Higher education: Investing in education is an essential source of sustainable development in Egypt

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Alastair Jarvis, Vice President of the University of London, who received the highest honor from the United Kingdom for his distinguished achievements in the field of higher education, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Hashem, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of European Universities in Egypt, at the Ministry’s headquarters.  The Minister praised the close relations between Egypt and Britain in the educational and research fields, stressing the Ministry’s keenness to strengthen these relations through more fruitful cooperation between Universities and research institutions in both countries, pointing to the successful cooperation experiences in opening branches of a number of British universities in Egypt.

 

Dr. Ayman Ashour pointed to Egypt’s firm interest in the internationalization of higher education. As a main focus of the higher education and scientific research strategy 2030, with the aim of strengthening Egypt’s position on the global education map, and providing distinguished educational opportunities for Egyptian students, consistent with the best international standards, stressing the importance of encouraging investment in education as one of the most important tributaries of sustainable development, by opening the way for more. Of partnerships and agreements with countries of the world that have a distinguished experience in university education, including the United Kingdom.

The Minister referred to the cooperation protocols that were signed with the British side to expand the opening of branches of foreign universities in Egypt, including a branch The University of London, which is hosted by the European Universities Group EUE in the Administrative Capital, offers through its faculties and institutions many distinguished study programs, including 12 distinct specializations in economics, political science, administrative sciences, finance, and other social sciences provided by the London School of Economics and Political Science  LSE  It is ranked No. 2 globally among the world’s universities in the social sciences, and 18 scientists have won the Nobel Prize.

 

The meeting discussed the experience presented by the University of London branch in the New Administrative Capital. Which included 7 programs in computer engineering and science in artificial intelligence, web development, mobile phones, virtual reality, and user experience. Degrees are awarded by the University of London under the academic supervision of Goldsmiths College, in addition to granting a bachelor’s degree in law under the academic supervision of the Academic Alliance. The University of London, which consists of 6 colleges represented by the London School of Economics and Political Science, Birkbeck College, the Royal College of London, Queen Mary’s College, the School of Oriental and African Studies, and University College London, is ranked eighth in the world, and 30 scientists have won the Nobel Prize. In addition, European universities in Egypt offer many postgraduate programs in law, especially in the field of international business law, and international dispute resolution mechanisms through Queen Mary College and University College London.  

 

During the meeting, Mr. Alistair Jarvis reviewed the new expansions of the University of London branch at European universities in the Administrative Capital, especially in the field of postgraduate studies, such as: Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Master’s degrees and Doctorate degrees in law.

 

Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the distinguished scientific level and financial capabilities of the branch in the capital, welcoming the presence of the University of London with its colleges ranked first in the world, which comes as a translation of the directives of the political leadership aimed at contracting with the most prestigious international universities, out of its belief in the importance of education. As a basic foundation for progress and prosperity.
