Turkish journalist arrested for insulting Erdogan

Turkish journalist Sedik Kabash was arrested on charges of insulting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. CNN Turk reported.

The agency notes that Kabash, commented on Erdogan’s policy with words about cattle in the palace on the air of a Turkish TV channel.

The statements caused public outrage. Officials in the country, especially representatives of the ruling Justice and Development Party, strongly criticized the journalist’s statements, calling them “immorality and stupidity.”

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into Bayan Kabash. According to law enforcement agencies, the journalist was detained at his home on the night of January 21. After that he was transferred to the Palace of Justice.
According to Turkish law, insulting the head of state is a crime.
