Berlusconi drops out of Italian presidential run

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who previously held the presidency, will not submit his candidacy to participate in the elections.

According to ANSA, Berlusconi is confident that Italy now needs “unity” to get it out of the crisis provoked by the health situation.

Mario Draghi should remain Italy’s prime minister, Berlusconi admits.

“I will continue to serve my country in other ways, as I have done in recent years: as a political leader and as a member of the European Parliament,” Berlusconi said.

In early December last year, information appeared that Berlusconi intends to run for the presidency of Italy.

Also in October, Berlusconi was acquitted of a sex scandal case.
