Coronavirus Pandemic need to change anti-epidemic approach, and special attention should be paid to drug development, according to Professor of Virology Alexander Chipurnov.

“Based on what’s happening in the field of vaccination, vaccinations don’t create sterile immunity, people still get sick. The importance of curative drugs is clear. New strains will still be around and will need treatment,” Chiburnov says.

“We have many chemists who are able to synthesize different materials, but we don’t have laboratories where we can analyze all of this.”

He pointed out that work is currently underway to study plant extracts that would help slow the development of the Corona virus in the first stage of the disease.
