EU asks for help from fuel exporters

European Parliament President Josep Borrell has stated that the EU has turned to major energy suppliers to ensure adequate supplies at reasonable prices.

“Russia, in its geopolitical game, does not abandon the use of Europe’s energy supplies as a weapon during a period of high energy prices around the world,” he said at a ministerial meeting of US and EU energy heads in Washington.

In turn, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States is negotiating with major fuel producers to increase supplies to Europe, including Ukraine.

We are consulting with governments and major producers around the world about increasing the supply of natural gas, and these negotiations are aimed at increasing energy supplies for all of Europe, including Ukraine, whose energy security is particularly threatened by Russian aggression.
