UK sends troops to Poland

The British Ministry of Defense said that in connection with the increase in tension due to the “military build-up” of Russia, an additional 350 British soldiers will be sent to Poland.

The British military said, according to the Guardian. The Marines will work with Poland on “joint exercises, contingency planning and capacity building.”

There are already 250 British soldiers in Poland, 150 of whom are part of the NATO security forces, and 100 of them are engineers who help Warsaw in strengthening the border with Belarus.

The deployment would send a strong signal that the two countries “stand shoulder to shoulder” in preventing a possible Russian “invasion” of Ukraine, Defense Minister Ben Wallace said during his Polish counterpart Mariusz Blaszczak’s visit to London.
