Biden plans to ask Congress for $770 billion for defense

US President Joe Biden will ask Congress for more than $770 billion in defense spending for the 2023 fiscal year, which begins on October 1, Reuters reported, citing sources.

According to the agency, the US President will formally submit this request in the coming months, and the final amount may change.

About $773 billion will be allocated to the Pentagon, and taking into account spending on other needs, the budget may exceed $ 800 billion. At the same time, Congress may call for an increase in the amount proposed by the president, Reuters indicated.

One of the agency’s sources said that among the priority areas of spending under the new defense budget are shipbuilding, space forces development, and the modernization of the nuclear triad.

According to another source from Reuters, the Pentagon will continue to invest in weapons development in the event of possible conflicts with Russia and China.
